Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State revealed on Friday that his administration will partner with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to enhance the digital economy for the benefit of residents.
This collaboration aligns with the government’s focus on education and technology, a key pillar of its THEMES+ developmental agenda.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by an NCC delegation, led by its Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Aminu Maida, at the Lagos House in Ikeja.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the partnership’s role in safeguarding critical infrastructure and advancing telecommunications and the digital economy.
The governor highlighted that his administration has already attracted approximately $1.2 billion in investments into the digital sector over the past five years.
He said these investments have supported the development of data centers, hyper-scale data facilities, submarine cable landings, and the expansion of digital networks for users and providers.
In his remarks, NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Aminu Maida, praised the Lagos State government for its progress in telecommunications, technology, and the digital economy.
He described Lagos as a strategic partner and stressed the importance of collaboration to protect digital infrastructure, address Right of Way issues, and ensure proper communication during road construction and rehabilitation projects.
