Rivers Assembly Gives Governor Fubara 48 Hours to Present 2025 Budget

The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Monday, March 3, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to present the 2025 budget to the lawmakers.
The demand was made during a plenary session in Port Harcourt, as the oil-rich state continues to grapple with an ongoing political crisis.
This development follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that reinstated lawmakers loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the legitimate members of the Rivers State Assembly.
In a unanimous decision, the court also halted the federal government from disbursing allocations to the state, which has been embroiled in turmoil since late 2023.
