Rivers Assembly declares pro-Gov. Fubara seats vacant

The seats of pro-Governor Siminalayi Fubara lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly have been declared vacant for absenteeism for a period of 152 days from legislative business.

The state House of Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule as Speaker passed a resolution to the effect on Tuesday in Port-Harcourt, the state capital.

The legislators also resolved to give Governor Fubara another opportunity to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill before the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.

The decision is in line with the ruling of the Court of Appeal which declared the budget approved by a four- member House of Assembly as illegal and directed that the governor should re-present the 2024 Budget to the House led by Amaewhule as Speaker.
