Rivers Assembly confirms CJ received impeachment notice against Gov. Fubara, deputy

The Rivers State House of Assembly has confirmed that the Chief Judge of the state has officially received and acknowledged the notices of alleged gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu.

The Assembly’s spokesperson, Hon. Dr. Enemi Alabo George, stated that all relevant documents detailing the allegations were included in the formal correspondence.

This step follows the Assembly’s commitment during Friday’s plenary to advance the impeachment process initiated the previous week.

Lawmakers cite Section 188(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as the basis for their action, which grants the assembly the authority to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against a sitting governor and deputy governor.
