Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric buys five-bedroom mansion worth over £1m in Swansea after taking minority stake in Welsh club

Real Madrid legend Luka Modric has bought a lavish mansion worth more than £1m in Swansea after purchasing a minority stake in the Welsh club.

While Modric is leaving Madrid after the expiry of his contract, the 39-year-old is yet to announce his retirement from professional football. Last month, the Croatian star bought a minority stake in Championship side Swansea City and now the player has reportedly bought a lavish five-bedroom mansion worth £1m in the Gower village of Three Crosses, according to The Sun.

Modric was recently spotted looking around the property and his sudden visit became a talk of the neighbourhood. A resident in that area told The Sun, “We don’t host many Galacticos in Swansea so it was a bit of a surprise to see him on our doorstep. But it’s a fantastic house close to the beach and I’m sure he will enjoy exploring the Gower and the local restaurants. I doubt we have as many fancy nightclubs as they do in Madrid, but we have plenty of good pubs where he will be made to feel very welcome.”

While Modric is yet to decide on his next venture, former Madrid striker Fernando Morientes has advised him to join Swansea as a member of the playing staff, and help them achieve promotion back to the Premier League having been relegated back in 2018.
