The coach of Rangers FC, Phillip Clement, has backed Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers to keep flourishing as a player after he scored two goals against Hearts.

Recall that the mulatto striker scored two goals for Rangers FC against Hearts in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, which was played on Saturday at Hampden Park.

In the keenly contested encounter, Dessers opened scoring in the 5th minute of the game and got his second in the 78th minute of the match after he finished off a rebound.

In response to the player’s recent performance, Clement stated that Dessers’s game has improved since joining the team from the modest Italian club Cremonese.

“Cyriel is scoring his goals and is also becoming stronger. I think these six months playing here are the best six months he has had in his career now, so we are going to work hard with him now to make him better and better. I see more and more the things I want to see from a striker,” Dessers told Rangers TV.

“I’m looking forward to [the final]. We have good memories from Hampden and our hunger for trophies is so big, with the staff, with the players, with the fans, with the board, with everybody.

‘‘So are we going to push really hard over the next couple of weeks to win as many trophies as possible,” the coach added.

Since his much-anticipated arrival from Italy last summer, Dessers has scored no fewer than 19 goals across all competitions for the Light Blues this season.
