Ramadan: Sanwo-Olu urges Muslim leaders to advocate perseverance

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has called upon Muslim clerics to utilize the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity to promote perseverance and educate their followers about government initiatives aimed at ensuring food security and improving citizens’ lives amidst the current economic challenges in the country.

Speaking at a Special Ramadan Prayer held at the State House Mosque Complex, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the crucial role of community leaders in guiding and encouraging the populace, particularly during times of adversity.

He urged religious leaders to leverage their influence to reassure the public that ongoing pains and discomfort would soon be alleviated, as the government implemented a multidimensional approach to provide relief to the people.

Governor Sanwo-Olu assured that his government will intensify efforts to address economic downturns and ensure the well-being of Lagosians.

He called upon Muslim clerics to effectively communicate these efforts to their congregations, fostering a sense of solidarity and collective responsibility in overcoming prevailing challenges.

Encouraging Muslims to demonstrate love and assist the needy during Ramadan, the Governor implored kind-hearted individuals to support the less privileged, as commanded by the Holy Quran, especially amid the critical economic downturn.

Guest lecturer Dr Munirideen Ar-Riyadi encouraged Muslims to view Ramadan as a spiritual journey beyond self-denial, stressing the importance of understanding and fulfilling the commandments of Almighty Allah during the holy month.
