QPR reignites interest in signing Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali
English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) could reignite their interest in signing Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
Reports say QPR could move to sign the proven goalkeeper, who will be available for the taking as a free agent at the end of the current football season.
In January, the Championship team was mentioned as a potential destination for the 27-year-old goalkeeper, who has kept nine clean sheets in 20 league outings this term for his South African team, Chippa United, but a deal never materialized.
Nwabali made an impression in the minds of many while in goal for Nigeria during the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, which sparked transfer rumours.
Two weeks ago that Nwabali stated that he has yet to receive any direct contact from foreign clubs for his signature after his AFCON 2023 heroics.
Nwabali, who disclosed in a chat with FARPost, said that he has not received any offer from any club ever since the conclusion of the Nations Cup.
He stated further that maybe clubs might have spoken to his team or his manager but they cannot approach him because it would be unprofessional.
“You see, to be honest, I’ve never seen anything on my table ever since AFCON,” Nwabali told FARPost.
“Maybe those clubs might have spoken to my team or my manager. But at this point, we can’t do anything.
“And they can’t approach me because it would be unprofessional. They must go to my club or my manager.
“So I don’t know if there’s something on the table, maybe waiting for the summer or transfer window. You know most clubs always do this. When they show interest, you’re opening the door to some other clubs.
“So, some people always keep it a secret, and when they get you, they get you once. For now, I know nothing,” he added.
