Prof. Kazeem Gbolagade has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University at Patigi in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A statement by the management of the university, led by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Nimota Akanbi, disclosed this on Thursday in Ilorin.

She said the appointment takes effect from March 1, adding that Gbolagade is taking over from the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mahfouz Adedimeji, who bows out if office on February 28, 2023.

According to the statement, “The appointment of Gbolagade of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete was in line with the institution’s laws.”

She said the appointment was for a single period of five years.

’The appointment confers on the new Vice-Chancellor membership of the University Council, chairmanship of the Senate and other statutory boards/agencies as enshrined in the institution’s statutes,” the Pro-Chancellor said.

She expressed optimism that the new Vice-Chancellor would justify the confidence reposed in him through his contribution towards building a solid foundation for the university.

According to her, the new Vice-Chancellor had served as the Head of the Department of Computer Science at KWASU from 2014 to 2021.

He was appointed in November 2015 as Provost of the College of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the institution until the College was changed to a Faculty in 2020.

”This was when he was appointed the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of ICT,” Akanbi said.

She added that the new VC also served on the KWASU Governing Council between March 2017 and April 2020.
