Prince Famodun begins coronation rites as new Owa of Igbajo

The coronation rites for the new Owa of Igbajo in Osun State, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, have kicked off in line with the tradition.

Famodun, who was a former Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is being installed as the traditional ruler of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the State.

Coronation rites for Famodun, according to information, kicked-off at 6am on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

Famodun was on Monday, November 21 appointed as the Owa of Igbajo, after the State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

A statement signed by Funke Egbemode, the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, announced Famodun’s appointment.

The statement said Prince Famodun was unanimously selected as the sole candidate of the Owa Oke-Ode Ruling House in a meeting held on 11th November, 2022.

The statement also indicated that his appointment as Owa was with immediate effect

The stool of Owa of Igbajo became vacant following the death of Oba Olufemi Fasade on 23rd December, 2020.
