Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup Emerges as the New Owa Obokun of Ijesaland
Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State and a member of the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House, has been elected as the new Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.
The selection process, conducted by Ijesaland kingmakers, took place on Friday at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat, where Haastrup defeated nine other candidates.
The kingmakers present included six Iwora Mefa chiefs and seven Agba Ijesa chiefs, with the process overseen by the Head of Local Government Administration of Ilesa East.
Haastrup’s name will be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for final approval.
He previously served as Deputy Governor to the late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke during Osun State’s first civilian administration.
