Presidency says ‘no issues’ as Tinubu slips on Democracy Day

The Presidency has reacted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s fall on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, while boarding the Democracy Day parade vehicle in Abuja.

President Tinubu had missed his step and slipped at the during Democracy Day celebration in Abuja on Wednesday.

However, the Presidency said: “no issues” as President Tinubu immediately went on with the ceremonies.

A video circulating on social media showed that the president missed his step and fell while walking into a vehicle that would convey him for a parade at Eagle Square.

Tinubu, who wore a white native attire popularly known as agbada and his signature cap, struggled to save himself by holding on to the vehicle, but landed on the ground while his aides rushed to support him back to his feet.

A special assistant to the president on social media, Dada Olusegun, said, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”

Indeed, the President had approached the vehicle shortly after he arrived at the Eagles Square, Abuja venue of the programme.

It was observed that the President lost his footing momentarily as he was about to step into the vehicle.

However, despite the slip, the President quickly regained his balance and continued with the proceedings.

The event at Eagles Square was part of a series of events to mark the country’s Democracy Day celebration.
