Police arrest village head for aiding kidnappers in Katsina

Usamatu Adamu, village head of Runka in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command over suspected link and criminal conspiracy with kidnapping.
Police said preliminary investigations showed his alleged involvement in the criminal conspiracy and kidnapping of four persons, including Abdulkarim, Malam Sakoa, Malam Sirajo, and Ali, all of Runka village in Safana Local Government Area in Katsina State.
The police said he was traced to Sabon Gida village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and arrested based on intelligence on October 3, 2024.
The state command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, paraded the suspect on Tuesday, with two of his accomplices namely: one Rabe Sada, alias BBC, aged 62, and one Nasiru Sha’aibu, aged 48, all of Runka village.
Sadiq said the suspected village head was arrested after painstaking investigation linking him to several kidnapping incidents in Runka village, Safana Local Government Area of the state.
Police said the suspect had confessed to committing the offence during investigation, while he also disclosed that one Rabe Sada, alias BBC, age 62, and one Nasiru Sha’aibu, age 48, all of Runka village, are accomplices providing information to one Umar, a notorious suspected armed bandits kingpin who stay in Runka forest, Safana LGA, Katsina State.
