Peter Obi Denies Merger Pact with Atiku, Kwankwaso for 2027 Presidency
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has dismissed rumors of a merger agreement with Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso for the 2027 presidential race.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Obi clarified that no pact currently exists between the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
While he did not entirely rule out discussions, he emphasized that “no agreement yet” had been reached.
Obi called on Nigerians, regardless of political affiliations, to unite against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of mismanaging the country’s resources.
He criticized the administration’s handling of security, corruption, and the economy, labeling the security situation as “unfortunate” and alleging that corruption remains rampant despite government claims of progress.
The statement has fueled further debate about possible alliances and strategies for the 2027 elections, which are still over a year away.
