PEBEC rates NCC among top five best Federal agencies in 2025

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been honored as one of the top five best-performing federal agencies for 2025 in the Transparency and Efficiency category by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

The recognition was announced at an awards ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday.

The NCC was celebrated for its dedication to openness, accountability, and operational excellence in public service.

The award places the Commission alongside other top performers, including the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (overall best), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (second place), the Nigeria Customs Service, and the Nigerian Ports Authority.

NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, accepted the award, reiterating the Commission’s commitment to upholding these principles.

He stated that transparency and accountability are central to improving industry performance and creating a thriving environment for telecom businesses.

“This honour validates our path and deepens our responsibility,” Dr. Maida said. “We remain committed to fostering a fair, competitive industry that benefits consumers and attracts investment, and we will continue to strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders.”

PEBEC Director-General, Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, explained that the awards celebrate reform champions driving progress in Nigeria’s business climate.

She highlighted the council’s data-driven reform efforts under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Vice President Shettima, who chairs PEBEC, stated that the awards reflect the government’s dedication to a more efficient and competitive public service.

“When we commit to working together across institutions, Nigeria wins,” he said.
