PDP in legal quagmire as conflicting court orders cloud National Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) finds itself in a legal crisis as it grapples with conflicting court orders concerning its planned National Convention for November 15th and 16th.

The party, already divided into two main factions, now faces judicial uncertainty.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a final order barring the party from proceeding with its 2025 elective convention in Ibadan.

In a contradictory ruling, an Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has directed the party to go ahead with the event as scheduled.

Amid this confusion, PDP Board of Trustees member Bode George has emphasized the necessity of the party upholding the rule of law.

In a television interview on Friday, George argued that a party aspiring to govern the nation cannot itself be seen disobeying court judgments.

“We (PDP) are a law-abiding organisation. Let us show to Nigerians that we believe in the rule of law,” George stated. “You cannot be a party disobeying court judgement and then you say you want to take over the reins of governance; let us obey the judgement of the court.”
