PDP Explains Inaction on Wike, Says Party Not Command Structure

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defended its decision not to take disciplinary action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, a prominent member who has been at odds with the party’s leadership.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, stated that the PDP is choosing to handle internal matters through democratic processes rather than authoritarian measures.

He made these comments during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Ologunagba emphasized that the party is a broad organization that accommodates diverse views.

“We’re following through and solving our problems methodically in a democratic way. This is not a command structure… You’re going to have different views, different ideas, different comments, and you try to ensure that you bring all of these contestations of views and ideas together,” he explained.

He further clarified that the party is strictly adhering to its established processes, pointing to the planned National Convention in November 2025 as evidence.

“This party is based on organization and processes… Every organ of this party, every stakeholder, was informed and specifically invited,” Ologunagba said, underscoring the party’s commitment to due process in managing its affairs.
