Options before Amorin at Manchester United during January window
The January transfer window represents a valuable opportunity for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils have endured an awful first half of the season and languish just seven points clear of the relegation zone. It’s not set to get any easier either, with a clash with fierce rivals Liverpool to come on Sunday.
One solution for Amorim and United could be a few additions. A few glaring positions in the side need more quality but it just depends if the Red Devils can get them through the door.
One man who could leave Old Trafford over the coming weeks is striker Marcus Rashford. Serie A club Napoli are reportedly among his admirers and would be willing to offer a stunning loan deal to try and secure his signature.
As per talkSPORT, they would be willing to offer Victor Osimhen – who is currently in the middle of a loan spell with Galatasaray – to United as a sweetener. The Nigerian has found some excellent form in Turkey having scored 14 goals in just 19 appearances.
Meanwhile, Rashford returned to the United squad for the first time against Newcastle having previously been axed for four Premier League games. He has three-and-a-half years left on his contract at Old Trafford.
While Rashford could potentially leave, Ruben Amorim has announced that two players are set for extended stays at Old Trafford. The Portuguese coach has confirmed that United will activate an option to extend Harry Maguire’s deal by a further year, while Amad is closing in on a new contract.
Speaking in his pre-Liverpool press conference, Amorim said: “Amad is near, Harry Maguire we are going to trigger our option.
“I spoke with him [Harry] this morning and I told him he has to improve on the pitch, we need him a lot. Also, he has to improve as a leader. We all know the situation that he had here but we need him a lot in this moment, so we are going to trigger, happily, the option for him.”
Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir could potentially follow Rashford out of the door. The Turkish star’s agent has confirmed that he has plenty of interest in his services.
Speaking to Sports Digitale via MEN, Sefa Seyrek said: “Altay had offers from many European clubs and the Premier League at the beginning of the season. There are currently clubs that are interested, but Altay wants to stay and play in Manchester United. The club definitely does not want to lose Altay.”
Bayindir, 26, has made just four appearances for United since signing from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023. He has a contract until 2027.
