Omobayo Godwin to be sworn in Monday as Edo Deputy Governor as Shuaibu impeached

The Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has immediately appointed Omobayo Godwin as his new Deputy Governor.

This happened today, Monday, April 8, 2024, just after the state House of Assembly impeached the estwhile state deputy governor Philip Shaibu.

Omobayo Godwin, 37 years old, replaces Shuaibu who refused to appear before an an impeachment panel constituted by the state Chief Judge after being advised by the House of Assembly.

Omobayo’s inauguration was slated to hold on Monday (today) at the State Government House in Benin City.

At the time of filing report, some guests were already seated while some were just arriving for the swearing-in ceremony at the festival hall of the Edo State Government House.
