Ogun to host Nigeria’s largest dairy, cattle ranches with 5,000 herds – Abiodun
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to establish the largest dairy and cattle ranches in Nigeria in Ipokia and Yewa South Local Government Areas, with an initial capacity of 5,000 herds of cattle.
Speaking at the APC Strategic Stakeholders Meeting at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Abiodun said the projects are sited in Ogun State at the instance of President Bola Tinubu, with construction set to commence soon.
He described the initiative as part of broader efforts to boost food security, agricultural production, and value chain development.
“The biggest dairy and cattle ranches will soon be established in Yewa South and Ipokia Local Government Areas. This is at the instance of Mr. President. These farms will start with 5,000 herds of cattle, and work will begin very soon,” the governor said.
Abiodun commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, noting they have stabilised the foreign exchange market, eliminated multiple exchange-rate regimes, and boosted foreign reserves to approximately $45 billion.
He also praised the President’s consistent support for Ogun State, citing approvals for the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Road reconstruction, funding for the Eba oil discovery, and resuscitation of OKLNG.
“Mr. President travels around the world, and whenever investors express interest in Nigeria, he tells them, ‘I think where you want to go is Ogun State,’” Abiodun added.
He said Tinubu’s leadership has rekindled hope among Nigerians and strengthened confidence in the APC-led government, stressing the need to secure a second term.
Abiodun highlighted his administration’s achievements over six years and eight months, including over 1,700 kilometres of roads constructed, more than 7,000 housing units delivered, and over 400 Primary Healthcare Centres upgraded.
He added that Ogun State is on the verge of becoming an oil-producing state.
Addressing party faithful, Abiodun urged unity ahead of the electioneering season, warning against acrimony and personal interests.
“As we approach the upcoming congresses, they must unite us, not divide us. A united APC is an unbeatable APC,” he said.
Party leaders at the meeting included former Governor Olusegun Osoba; Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Speaker Oludaisi Elemide; Senators Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and Shuaib Salisu; House of Representatives Chief Whip Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka; Ministers Bosun Tijani and Dr. Isiaka Salako; APC Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi; and other stakeholders.
