Obidient Movement Warns APC Against Intimidation of Peter Obi
The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against any attempts to intimidate Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, his family, or associates.
Speaking to Punch in response to comments by APC Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, Tanko described the alleged threats as unacceptable and urged security agencies to investigate.
He warned that any attempt to arrest Obi would backfire on President Bola Tinubu’s government, emphasizing that Nigerians would resist such actions.
Tanko stated, “In a democratic setting, Obi did not impugn anyone’s integrity nor cross any line. Threatening him with impunity would provoke a negative reaction from Nigerians.” He added that the APC should address criticisms with facts rather than resorting to intimidation, highlighting the importance of protecting democratic values and fostering constructive national discourse.
The Obidient Movement reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Peter Obi’s vision for a just and equitable Nigeria, urging citizens to continue demanding accountability and justice.
Tanko called on the ruling party to tolerate criticism and avoid actions that could destabilize the polity.
