Oba Aromolaran of Ijesaland dies after 42 years on throne

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, has joined his ancestors.
Sources in the palace said Oba Aromolaran died early morning today.
The late octogenarian monarch ruled for 42 years when he joined his ancestors.
His last public outing was at the flag off of construction of Roundabout/Brewery dual carriage way.
Heavy security presence was observed at the palace while traditional Chiefs approached by reports spoke parably, indicating passage of Oba Aromolaran.
Although the palace has not issued any official statement as regards the passage of the monarch as at the time of filing this report, the sources indicated passage of the monarch.
According to them, “You can see that they have started performing some traditional rites. This has to be done before any announcement can be made.”
It was observed that some traditional rites typically performed following the demise of a king are being carried out.
