NiMet forecasts thunderstorms, rains across Nigeria from Sunday to Tuesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rains across Nigeria from Sunday through Tuesday.
NiMet stated that from Sunday, July 21, thunderstorms are expected in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kebbi, Kaduna, Gombe, and Yobe states.
It also anticipated rainfall in the North Central region and thunderstorms later in the day, which will likely affect the entire northern region, with moderate thunderstorms and rains anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, Benue, and Kogi states.
The report also stated that intermittent rains are also expected over Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states.
In the afternoon and evening, intermittent rains will likely occur in Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.
On Monday, July 22, thunderstorms are forecasted over Kebbi, Sokoto, Bauchi, Kaduna, Borno, Taraba, and Katsina States during the morning.
Similarly, the Federal Capital Territory and Plateau states are expected to see rainfall. Later in the day, moderate thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Adamawa, and Katsina States.
Intermittent rains are expected in Edo, Rivers, and Delta states, with a cloudy atmosphere over the remaining southern states.
In the afternoon and evening, moderate and intermittent rains are forecasted for Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, and Rivers states.
On Tuesday, July 23, thunderstorms and rains are expected in Yobe, Adamawa, Borno, and Taraba States during the morning.
The Federal Capital Territory, Niger, and Kwara states are anticipated to experience rains, with cloudy skies over the remaining states.
Later in the day, thunderstorms will be widespread across the northern region, with intermittent rains anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, and Niger states.
There are also prospects of morning rains in Edo, Delta, Imo, and Anambra States, with cloudy skies in the remaining southern regions.
In the afternoon and evening, intermittent rains are forecasted for Ondo, Edo, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Bayelsa states.
However, NiMet advised Nigerians to take necessary precautions due to the possibility of strong winds preceding the rains and the high likelihood of urban flooding in major cities.
It also advised residents to avoid flood-prone areas and stay informed about weather conditions.
