NIMC seeks online publishers collaboration for enhanced multipurpose National ID Card

The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has organised a two-day event in Lagos for online publishers to enhance enlightement regarding its new multipurpose National ID Card.
Under the auspices of Nigeria Digital Identification for Development, ID4D, project, the speakers at event highlighted that the new National ID Card “remains a single, convenient, and General multipurpose card (GMPC), eliminating the need for multiple cards.”

, who spoke on the second day of the event, Saturday, June 22, 2024, said NIMC “is trying to develop numbers that are verifiable, that can verify data of Nigerians.”
The Technical Lead, who hinged her discussion on: “Identity Lifecycle”, emphasised the essence of “validation and verfication” regarding data of any individual.
According to her, NIMC is poised to ensure “consistency of data, sustainability of data and authorisation of data of an individual Nigerian.”
She further explained that validation, verification and authiorisation have to do with the subject-matter of “Identity Lifecycle.”
The NIMC, under its new management, led by the Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, she said, has embarked on strategic improvements to enhance “existing infrastructure, such as network, data integrity; enhanced security, privacy, inclusive and accessible technology.”
Chizea said, “The main aim is to ensure that all NIMC enrolments are tamper-proof,” while stressing that the aim of the two-day event is to create public awareness among Nigerians in this regard.
