Nigerian tech startup, SystemSpecs, to unveil new tech champions on Chil­dren’s Day

A Nigerian tech startup, SystemSpecs, has announced plans to unveil the next tech champion on May 27 (Children’s Day).

‘DeRemi Atanda, Man­aging Director, Remita while confirming the development explained that the aim of the contest is “for young minds to express their ideas and solutions to national issues.”

According to the company, over the last five years, young Nigerians between the ages of nine and sixteen have benefited from the competition’s inspiration and cultivation of their critical thinking, leadership, and advocacy skills.

SystemSpecs, founded in 1992 by John Obaro, claims it has been providing innovative solutions to governments and companies in Nigeria and Africa ever since.

The startup said it started by selling and supporting SunSystems, the well-known financial management software, as well as its own payroll and HR software, HumanManager, which was developed in-house and has been a market leader for more than 20 years.

“The Children’s Day Es­say Competition is more than just a contest; it is a platform for young minds to express their ideas and solutions to national issues,” said ‘DeRemi.

“We are thrilled to rec­ognize and celebrate these young Nigerian tech cham­pions who exemplify our values – innovation and dil­igence in pursuit of excel­lence.

“Our goal is to nurture these talents and support their development, contrib­uting to Nigeria’s technolog­ical advancement,” she concluded

Public and private schools in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria entered the tournament in large numbers this year, demonstrating the extraordinary skill and promise of Nigerian children according to the startup.

“We are grateful to all the judges who played a cru­cial role in the evaluation process. Their expertise and dedication have been instrumental in identifying and celebrating the deserv­ing winners of this competi­tion”, said Bukola Adeboye, Group Head, Corporate Ser­vices.

The event will be streamed live online on May 27, 2024, as a noteworthy celebration of youth ingenuity and talent. We earlier reported that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Nokia Solutions and Networks Nigeria, and the Federal Government of Nigeria represented by the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Aminu Maida, and Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.
