Nigerian Army Chief Appoints New GOCs, PSOs, Corps Commanders, and MNJTF Commander to Boost Operational Efficiency
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, has announced the appointment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, and the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in a strategic reshuffle aimed at improving operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency.
Major General OT Olatoye has been appointed as the new GOC 82 Division/Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) South East Operation Udoka (OPUK), while Major General EF Oyinlola takes over as GOC 3 Division/Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH). Other acting GOCs confirmed in their positions include Major General AGL Haruna (GOC 7 Division/Commander Sector 1 JTF North East Operation Hadin Kai) and Major General IA Ajose (GOC 8 Division/Commander Sector 2 JTF North West Operation Fasan Yanma).
Also, Major General GM Mutkut has been posted to Headquarters Multi-National Joint Task Force in Njamena as Force Commander, while Major General GO Adeshina moves to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Director General.
The reshuffle also saw the appointment of several new PSOs at the Army Headquarters, including Major General LA Fejokwu as Chief of Administration (Army), Major General GU Chibuisi as Chief of Civil Military Affairs, and Major General AS Ndalolo as Chief of Training (Army). Other key appointments include Major General OS Abai as Chief of Transformation and Innovation and Major General JH Abdussalam as Chief of Special Services and Programmes.
In a broader shift, new Corps Commanders include Major General OC Ajunwa (Nigerian Army Armour Corps), Major General HT Wesley (Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps), and Major General TT Numbere (Nigerian Army Engineers), among others.
The Chief of Army Staff emphasized the need for the newly appointed officers to maintain a strong commitment to the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other national security challenges. He also underlined the importance of prioritizing the welfare of troops and ensuring effective leadership across the Army.
This restructuring reflects the Nigerian Army’s determination to maintain a dynamic leadership structure capable of addressing evolving security concerns.
