A 22-year-old Nigerian content creator and food consultant, Munachimso Brian Nwana, has set a new world record for the most fast food restaurants visited in 24 hours.

Indeed, Brian visited 150 different establishments in Abuja, Nigeria, surpassing the previous record of 100 set by American YouTuber Airrack last year.

Before Airrack, the record was held by TikTok stars Nick DiGiovanni and the late Lynn “Lynja” Davis.

Unlike the previous record attempts in New York City, which boasts a dense cluster of restaurants and a well-developed public transportation system, Brian’s attempt in Abuja presented unique challenges.

For Brian, “New York has clusters of restaurants and adequate public transportation systems, so doing this in Abuja was much more daunting and challenging.”

Throughout his record-breaking journey, Brian adhered to strict rules, using no private transportation. He completed the entire route on foot, covering over 25 kilometres (15 miles). His journey began at Chicken Republic in Gwarinpa and concluded at Kilimanjaro in the city centre.

Brian chose to start his challenge at 5 p.m. and took a nine-hour break from midnight to 9 a.m. to rest. To qualify for the record, he had to purchase and consume at least one food or drink item at each restaurant, with a requirement that at least 75% of the orders were food.

Despite the demanding task, Brian managed to taste something, even just a mouthful, from most of the places he visited. The remaining food was shared with his team and members of the public.

The record attempt was not just about the numbers for Brian; it was also a mission to promote Abuja’s diverse culinary scene and showcase Nigerian cuisine.

While he sampled a wide range of foods, including shawarma, pizza, fried chicken, and burgers, his favourite meals were traditional Nigerian dishes like moin moin (bean pudding) and àmàlà (a dough-like swallow food).

Reflecting on his achievement, Brian said, “This record goes to show that the Nigerian food space is worth paying attention to. I would like to encourage people from around the world to come and explore the Nigerian food space.”

Also, Ewaoluwa Olatunji, widely known as Ewa Cole or the “Queen of Afro-Solk,” carved her name in the annals of musical history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon singing Christmas songs.

The 29-year-old Nigerian singer embarked on a remarkable musical journey, singing continuously for an impressive 31 hours from December 27 to December 28, 2023.

Throughout the extraordinary feat, Ewa passionately delivered a repertoire of classic Christmas songs, including timeless favourites like “Deck the Halls,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Silent Night.”
