Nigeria Seeks Extradition of Simon Ekpa
The Federal Government of Nigeria has submitted necessary documentation to Finland for the extradition of Simon Ekpa, a key Biafra agitator facing terrorism charges.
This was revealed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, during an interview on Channels Television.
“Well, I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere. Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested,” Musa stated, expressing confidence in Finland’s cooperation following the submission of relevant materials.
Ekpa, arrested by Finnish authorities in November 2024 along with four others, faces accusations of incitement to violence, promoting separatist propaganda, and financing terrorism. The Lahti District Court in Finland has ordered his remand on grounds of public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent in Nigeria.
Known for using social media to advocate for the violent secession of southeastern Nigeria, Ekpa has been a controversial figure, drawing widespread criticism for threatening Nigeria’s unity and security.
