Nigeria in darkness as national grid collaspses again, third time in a week

Nigeria’s national grid has collapsed again, the third time in a week.
This collapse happened early Saturday morning, sending the country into darkness.
Data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) showed the grid recorded zero megawatts (MW) as of 9.20am today.
Newstide247.com had reported during the week that it was anguish for Nigerian electricity consumers as the national grid collapsed again, plunging the country into another round of blackouts just 24 hours after it was restored.
Various distribution companies (DisCos) in the country, on Tuesday, confirmed the collapse around 9am this morning.
Although, the DisCos said efforts were ongoing to restore power, the recurring collapses have consistently been a nightmare and frustration for citizens and businesses already struggling with the inconsistent power supply.
For Ikeja DisCo, it stated in a statement that: “Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 @ 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network.
“Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders. Kindly bear with us.”
Also, Eko DisCo said:
“Dear Valued Customer,
“Kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network.
“We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as the power supply is restored. Kindly bear with us.”
The collapse of the national grid system is the sixth time in 2024.
All distribution companies are currently receiving no power from the grid, leaving their feeders without electricity.
