The Executive Vice-Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, stated that the commission’s move toward transparent, data-driven regulation is now producing measurable benefits for subscribers.
“The data shows clear and steady improvements in network quality, particularly in median download speeds across both urban and rural areas, especially when compared to Q3 performance,” he said.
Dr. Maida highlighted a narrowing gap in video Quality of Experience between urban and rural areas and a strengthening 4G backbone.
He also acknowledged ongoing challenges, including 5G inconsistencies, upload inequality, and coverage gaps, assuring that the NCC is working with operators on spectrum optimization and stricter quality-of-service enforcement.
The Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Abraham Oshadami, emphasized that the commission’s transparency push is yielding concrete advantages for consumers.
He noted that proactive data sharing has become a core principle, holding service providers accountable.
Oshadami said the NCC’s partnership with Ookla, which produced nationwide Network Coverage Maps as an objective tool for comparing operator performance.
