NAFDAC Orders Nationwide Recall of MR.7 Super 700000 Capsules Over Hidden Viagra Ingredients
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has directed the immediate recall of all batches of MR.7 Super 700000 capsules following the discovery of undeclared pharmaceutical ingredients in the product.
In a public alert issued on Monday, the agency stated that the recall was initiated based on findings from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which detected the presence of sildenafil and tadalafil—potent prescription drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction—within the supplement.
NAFDAC emphasized that these substances, known as phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors, were not listed on the product label. Consequently, MR.7 Super 700000 capsules are classified as unapproved drugs, as their safety and efficacy have not been properly vetted.
The product, manufactured by StuffbyNainax LLC and marketed as a dietary supplement for male enhancement, should not contain any active pharmaceutical ingredients, the regulator noted.
Consumers and retailers have been urged to discontinue use or sales immediately and to return any stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.
The agency warned that consuming undisclosed sildenafil or tadalafil poses severe health risks, particularly for individuals on nitrate-based medications for heart conditions, such as nitroglycerin. Such interactions can trigger a dangerous drop in blood pressure and may prove fatal. Those with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, or heart disease are especially vulnerable.
NAFDAC further called on healthcare providers and the public to report any suspicions of counterfeit or substandard drugs through its official reporting channels.
This latest recall aligns with recent regulatory actions by NAFDAC against unsafe and falsified medical products, including counterfeit batches of Avastin (Bevacizumab) 400 mg vials used in cancer therapy.
The agency reaffirmed its dedication to protecting public health through ongoing surveillance of the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medicines available in Nigeria.
