N2m harvest anniversary cows of Celestial Church parish stolen

Two cows valued at nearly N2 million slated for harvest anniversary of the Celestial Church of Christ, Testimony Parish, in Elerumoke, Egbeda, Oyo State, have been stolen.
The incident was said to have occurred on Saturday, November 16, just days before the church’s ninth “Adult Harvest Thanksgiving Service.”
Prophet Rotimi Temitope, the parish shepherd, confirmed that the cows were worth N1.98 million.
According to him, “The theft dealt a devastating blow to the church’s preparations. However, the 2024 Adult Harvest still held as scheduled on Sunday, November 17. The incident has taught us the importance of completing our perimeter fence, which the thieves exploited.”
The church leader said the cows were stolen under the cover of darkness after the parish shepherd and other leaders had retired for the night.
He also said, “The cows, which were tethered, were untied by the suspected thieves. We saw their footprints along with those of the animals but couldn’t trace where they were taken.”
The stolen cows were bought from contributions from members to ensure a fanfare celebration.
However, such incidents are said to be common in the area, although it was not expected that thieves would hit the church.
A church member was quoted as saying, “If this can happen in a church, where else is safe in this country? Stealing cows this large from a sacred space is shocking.”
