MTN Nigeria Secures 10-Year Renewal of 800MHz Spectrum Licence
MTN Nigeria has secured approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to renew and harmonise its 800MHz spectrum licences.
The renewal is a significant milestone for the company, ensuring continuity of services for its customers.
The highlights include the first 800MHz spectrum licence (Channel 1) being renewed for 10 years, effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2034.
The second 800MHz spectrum band licence (Channel 2) has been extended for an additional four years, aligning its expiration date with Channel 1 on December 31, 2034.
Also, this renewal and harmonisation aim to simplify subsequent licence renewals and ensure continuity of services for MTN Nigeria’s customers.
According to MTN Nigeria’s CEO, Karl Toriola, “We are pleased with the successful renewal and harmonisation of our 800MHz spectrum licences, which lay a solid foundation for the ongoing delivery of 4G services to our customers”
Indeed, this development is integral to the company’s broader strategy for enhancing connectivity and delivering high-quality data services to customers across the country.
As one of Africa’s largest providers of communications services, MTN Nigeria connects over 81 million people in communities across the country, with 51% market penetration.
