Money laundering: Court adjourns trial of ex-Lagos AG, Shasore, to Feb 23

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday further adjourned the trial of former Lagos State Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner Olasupo Shasore, SAN, to February 23, 2023.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke fixed the date following the directive of the Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho
The Chief Judge had in early November constituted a member of task force to deepens with pre election matters within four weeks.
Counsel to the defendant Olawale Akoni SAN said that the liberty of citizen is at stake which should ordinarily be given priority too.
But Justice Aneke said he can act contrary to the directive of chief Judge which may be the reason why prosecution is not known.
Sasore was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on the 29th of October on the offence bordering on money laundering into tune of $100,000
He was arraigned on a four-count charge before Chukwujekwu Aneke, judge of a federal high court in Lagos.
The former AG was alleged to have committed money laundering to the tune of $100,000 without going through a financial institution.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge
