Modu-Sheriff says ADC is weak, predicts Peter Obi’s return to PDP

Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, said the newly formed coalition under the umbrella of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will soon fizzled out has it started.

Senator Modu-Sheriff predicted that the coalition will not last, predicting its imminent collapse within the next three months.

The former Borno State governor and staunch member of the People Democratic Party, PDP, spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.

Sheriff said the party, formed by key opposition figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former ministers, and ex-governors, is already heading towards collapse with signs of internal struggle due to competing presidential ambitions.

According to him, the coalition’s challenges will crop up as each political heavyweight in the party show his ambition towards the 2027 presidential ticket.

He said: “This ADC that you’re talking about, I can tell you for free, give them three months, it will die down because all of them are presidential materials and only one of them can be a candidate.”

Sheriff said Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, will return to the PDP to pursue his 2027 ambition.

He disclosed that, “Peter Obi ran under the Labour Party. His ambition is to become President. Information available to me is that any moment from now, Obi would go back to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the PDP.”

Sheriff dimmed the electoral power and influence of key figures, such as Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi. “Tell me, which states do they control?” he said.
