MEA Energy partners with Petrosoft to launch automated “station of the future” across Nigeria

MEA Energy, an indigenous Nigerian oil and gas downstream company, has announced the adoption of SmartPump technology to automate its nationwide filling stations.

The technology, developed by global retail solutions provider Petrosoft, is expected to enable faster, easier self-service for customers.

As a subsidiary of a prominent UAE-based commodities consortium, MEA Energy expressed strong confidence in the automation technology to support its rapidly expanding network of fuel and LPG stations.

The company’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Chris Vassilopoulos, stated that this partnership establishes a new benchmark for Africa, merging UAE-backed financial stability with advanced technological innovation.

He explained that after a global search, Petrosoft’s SmartPump was selected as the premier solution for automation, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Mr. Vassilopoulos emphasized that as MEA Energy scales its retail operations, the SmartPump integration will provide real-time oversight of inventory, sales, and pump accuracy, ensuring world-class service.

He described the partnership as an investment in a transparent ecosystem designed to eliminate losses, optimize the supply chain, and guarantee precise fuel dispensing for customers.

Petrosoft’s CEO, Dr. Joshua Denila, noted that MEA Energy’s adoption of SmartPump signals a major shift in how African downstream operators manage retail assets.

He highlighted that the technology is specifically engineered for resilience and adaptability in diverse environments, making it suitable for Nigeria’s growing energy infrastructure.

Key benefits of the SmartPump system highlighted by Dr. Denila include advanced calibration and real-time tank monitoring to prevent product shrinkage and unauthorized siphoning, and the ability to monitor performance, adjust prices, and audit inventory remotely via a secure cloud interface, minimizing the need for physical site visits.

Dele Fashomi, seasoned journalist and communication teacher, is a holder of Master of Arts degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan in 1992/93.

He is also into biography writing, with many books in his trail, some of which he wrote alone and one he co- authored with his mentor, Mr Dare Babarinsa, entitled:  Olabiyi Durojaiye – DARE TO BE DiFFERENT.
