The former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has voiced his confidence that truth and justice will prevail amidst the ongoing legal proceedings against him.
In a statement released by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami expressed profound gratitude to his family, friends, political associates, and well-meaning Nigerians for their steadfast support during the trying period.
He specifically acknowledged the solidarity shown by prominent figures including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Peter Obi.
Reflecting on the experience, Malami described it as challenging, pointing to the prevalence of media trials, sensational narratives, and prejudgment.
However, he noted that the outpouring of prayers and encouragement had only strengthened his faith in the country’s due process and justice system.
Beyond his personal situation, Malami used the opportunity to call for a renewed national commitment to the rule of law.
He urged citizens to remain actively engaged in defending justice, strengthening institutions, and promoting accountability.
“The struggle for justice, accountability, and national redemption is only just beginning,” he stated, emphasizing the collective duty to uphold integrity and democratic values.
This statement comes as Malami faces multiple legal challenges, including allegations of corruption and other charges.
