Makinde Appoints 45 New Perm Secs, Restructures Key Sectors in Oyo
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of 45 new Permanent Secretaries and three Executive Secretaries in a major overhaul of the state’s civil service structure.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, and detailed in a document signed by the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni.
The appointments span various sectors, including 16 Permanent Secretaries in the mainstream civil service, six Inspectors General of Education, six in the health sector, and seven in local government administration.
Also, a new Clerk of the House of Assembly, a Surveyor General, and nine Tutors General have been named.
The statement highlighted Governor Makinde’s commitment to equitable representation, noting an unprecedented focus on local government appointments, with seven new Permanent Secretaries approved for the sector.
SUBEB will now feature zonal Executive Secretaries, while the health sector will have Permanent Secretaries overseeing zones instead of traditional Heads of Hospitals.
The Commissioner also emphasized the government’s dedication to worker welfare, with over 23,000 staff recruited and ₦143 billion allocated annually for salaries starting January.
This initiative positions Oyo as a leading state in civil service welfare nationwide.
