The Nigerian Police are still trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death if a police inspector in an Ogun State hotel.

At the weekend, a lifeless body of a police inspector, Haruna Mohammed, was discovered in a hotel room at Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi, Akute, Ogun State

Inspector Mohammed was attached to the Ishashi Police Division in Lagos State. He checked into Super G Royal Hotel around 1 a.m. on Saturday with an unidentified woman. However, by morning, he was found dead, while the woman was on the run.

The hotel manager, Deborah Adejobi, was said to have noticed that the Police officer’s room door was unlocked around 8:52 a.m. Upon entry, she found his motionless body, prompting an immediate alert to the hotel owner, Abiodun Olagunju, who then reported the incident to the police.

Police investigation showed that an unidentified woman had visited the hotel reception around 6 a.m. to request table water before disappearing.

The officer’s body has since been moved to Life Channel Mortuary in Olambe.

Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, disclosing that initial identification was challenging, as the deceased had no ID card on him. However, suspicions were raised after police uniforms were found in his bag.

“The DPO of Ishashi Division has been contacted, and the body has been positively identified,” Odutola stated.

Police authorities are probing the incident and have launched a manhunt for the missing woman.
