Lamido denies withdrawing court case, says order stopping PDP convention stands

Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has publicly dismissed reports of his withdrawal from a lawsuit against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “fake news.”

The reports had claimed he cleared the way for the party’s planned National Convention in Ibadan to proceed.

In a statement issued on Friday, Lamido clarified that the Federal High Court had, in fact, ruled in his favor.

He stated the judgment, delivered at about 2:30 p.m., affirmed his right to contest the PDP National Chairmanship position—a right he alleges was previously denied to him.

Lamido specifically denied claims that he met with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to withdraw the case.

He revealed that the false story prompted numerous calls from concerned PDP members across the country, which he urged the public to disregard.

He confirmed that the court order prohibiting the November 15th and 16th convention in Ibadan remains in effect.

Furthermore, Lamido announced that the certified court order has already been formally delivered to both the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He condemned the misleading report as malicious and reiterated his commitment to legally pursuing his rights within the party.
