Lagosians rose into some ecstasy as Cristiano Ronaldo and his club, Al Nassr, arrived in the city, as part of their preseason preparations for the upcoming Saudi Pro League season.
Indeed, the team was previously training in Lisbon, Portugal, before they move to Lagos.
The club shared their excitement on social media with a post: “Lisbon chapter closed Lagos chapter loading.”
Ronaldo arrived with several teammates, including new signing João Félix.
Included in the team is Sadio Mane, Senegal international, and their new signing, Joao Felix in the star studded squad. They addition of few players is to strengthen the team for the new season.
Al Nassr had earlier defeated French club Toulouse 2-1, with Ronaldo scoring one of the goals.
Their next major match is against rivals Al Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup.
Photos posted online showed the players landing in Lagos in Portugal and taking part in training sessions.
The Lagos fans are quick to recognise Ronaldo wearing a training bib with the number 9, instead of his iconic number 7.
In some Instagram pictures, he was seen wearing orange and yellow bibs marked with the number 9.
Ronaldo’s arrival created bursts of excitement among football the Lagos fans, some of them were physically first catching a glimpse of the global Ronaldo.

He had his first break in the Nigerian media in Concord Newspapers in 1990 and today, he has over two and half decades experience earned in several newspapers.
He has been part of many start-ups, such as The Republic (1987), The Comet (1999), The Anchor 2001 – 2002; Sun Newspapers (2003); Westerner newsmagazine (2005 – 2010) as Editor; National Life (2011) as Sunday Editor, and Newswatch Newspapers (2012- 2016) as Daily Editor.
Dele Fashomi is now the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Newstide247.com newspaper online, which he started in July 2015. He is also into biography writing, with many books in his trail, some of which he wrote alone and one he co- authored with his mentor, Mr Dare Babarinsa, entitled: Olabiyi Durojaiye – DARE TO BE DiFFERENT. He also guided and collaborated with Pa Olatunji Odusanya in writing his autobiography – AGAINST ALL ODDS. There are many other books in the works under his pen.
