Lagos Police unveils comprehensive security plan for Eid-il-Fitr celebrations

The Lagos State Police Command has unveiled an extensive security arrangement across the state to guarantee a peaceful and incident-free Eid-il-Fitr celebration.

Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh, acting on directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of conventional officers, tactical units, and intelligence operatives to work in synergy in monitoring and responding to potential security threats.

According to a statement Wednesday by command spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, marine police units have been activated to bolster surveillance along the state’s waterways, aimed at preventing criminal activities and unauthorised movements.

To ensure visibility and rapid response, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of tactical formations have been directed to intensify patrols, particularly in high-risk and densely populated areas.

Traffic management personnel have also been stationed across major highways, inner roads, and congestion-prone zones to ease movement during the celebrations, while security presence has been reinforced at Eid prayer grounds, mosques, markets, recreational centres, and other public locations expected to draw large gatherings.

Officers have been instructed to maintain professionalism throughout the operation.

The command reassured residents and visitors of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the festivities, urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency lines.
