Lagos APC leaders back Hamzat for 2027, urge vibrant legislative aspirants
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; and other party leaders have assured members of the Lagos APC that Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat’s candidature for the 2027 governorship election is a done deal.
During Hamzat’s ongoing consultation visits, the party leaders also urged members and Lagos residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Obasa, receiving the deputy governor at his GRA residence in Ikeja, affirmed that Hamzat’s candidature “has been sealed.” Obanikoro said any objective assessment of Hamzat’s pedigree shows Lagos is set to be entrusted to a committed and competent technocrat.
Meanwhile, participants at a two-day executive-legislative parley urged the party to endorse legislative aspirants who can clearly articulate APC plans at state and national levels. A communique from the three-day 19th Executive and Legislative Parley, organised by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, resolved that the three arms of government should deepen harmony through collaboration, cooperation, coordination, communication, and consensus.
Obanikoro added that Lagos must not decline but continue to grow, expressing confidence in Hamzat’s leadership. Senator Ganiyu Solomon appealed to Mushin residents to vote en masse for Tinubu, Hamzat, and other APC candidates, urging Nigerians to disregard critics of the APC-led government.
Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, receiving Hamzat at the party’s secretariat in Ogba, reiterated the party’s backing for his aspiration. Hamzat responded by outlining his vision, noting that Lagos remains too strategic to Nigeria’s development to fail.
Additionally, Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I assembly aspirant Mayowa Israel Alakija urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election and sustain APC’s dominance at federal and state levels in 2027, saying continuity would allow Nigerians to reap long-term benefits of ongoing reforms.
