The incident, confirmed by the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, Rev. Babajide Bada, occurred last Sunday evening.

The kidnappers initially demanded a N75 million ransom, while the Ẹgbẹ Akọ́mọlédè group reportedly sought to raise N10 million for their release. Details of their eventual freedom remain unclear at the time of this report.

In a separate incident, prominent Ondo herdsman Aliu Yunusa was killed near the Ilu-Abo junction in Akure South Local Government Area. Gunmen, believed to be fellow Fulani herdsmen attempting to rustle his cattle, had earlier kidnapped his wife, but Yunusa successfully rescued her. The attackers returned, overpowering and killing him with machetes before setting his motorcycle ablaze.

Ondo Amotekun Corps Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye confirmed the incident, stating that officers are actively searching the forest for the perpetrators.
