Katsina Gov. flags off N15.3m cash assistance for 727 vulnerable residents in Kaita LGA
Katsina State Governor, Malam Umaru Dikko Radda, has officially launched the disbursement of over N15.3 million in cash assistance to 727 vulnerable individuals in Kaita Local Government Area, including persons with disabilities, women, and other marginalised groups.
The financial support was facilitated by the Executive Chairman of the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Kabir Magaji Gafia, through his personal foundation as part of ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable constituents, particularly in the lead-up to the Ramadan period.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Radda—represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bar. Abdullahi Garba Faskari—commended Dr. Gafia for the humanitarian initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution toward easing hardship among vulnerable populations.
The Governor noted that the foundation had previously provided similar assistance to over 500 vulnerable persons last year. He urged other elected officials and political appointees to emulate this gesture by supporting those in need within their constituencies.
He further assured that the state government would continue to encourage individuals and organisations working to improve the quality of life for citizens.
Governor Radda advised beneficiaries to utilise the funds wisely to enhance their livelihoods. He also called on residents to use the upcoming Ramadan period to pray for sustained peace, unity, and development in Katsina State and the nation at large.
In his remarks, Dr. Magaji Gafia explained that the intervention reflects his commitment to supporting constituents and promoting social welfare.
He disclosed that beneficiaries include persons with disabilities, vulnerable individuals, women’s groups, youths, and members of the All Progressives Congress.
He pledged to sustain the initiative on an annual basis to achieve broader coverage across the area.
Speaking at the event, the member representing Kaita Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Sirajo Kaskaro, emphasised that the disbursement would help stimulate economic activity in the area.
He appealed for collective effort among political office holders from the constituency to reduce poverty and improve living standards for residents.
