Kanu’s family expresses fears for his safety as he’s moved to Sokoto prison

The family of Nnamdi Kanu has raised a grave alarm, expressing fears for the safety of the IPOB leader’s after transfer to a prison in Sokoto.

Kanu was moved after being sentenced to life imprisonment on terrorism-related charges.

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the detainee’s brother, stated that when Kanu’s legal team arrived for a scheduled visit at the DSS facility in Abuja, they were informed he had been relocated.

“They have secretly relocated Nnamdi Kanu to Sokoto prison with the intention to kill him by denying him access to his personal physicians,” he said.

The family expressed fear over his safety, emphasizing that Kanu is on special medication for a failed health condition and that the move could lead to a return to “administering drugs to him,” which they oppose.

The transfer was also criticized by Kanu’s former lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, as an unwise move that isolates the leader from his support base.

The development follows a life sentence handed down by a Federal High Court, a verdict the prosecution hailed as just.
