Kaduna ADC Faction Accuses El-Rufai of Plotting to Hijack Party

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has publicly called on the party’s national leadership to intervene and restrain former governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The group accuses El-Rufai and his allies of attempting to stage a takeover of the party’s structure in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference, the stakeholders’ leader, Adamu Ahmed Dattijo, alleged that El-Rufai, alongside Ja’afaru Sani and Bashir Sa’idu, is undermining the party’s duly elected state executive and bypassing its established grassroots organizations.

Dattijo condemned El-Rufai’s approach as a “one-man show,” characterized by secret meetings with a small circle of loyalists while ignoring the legitimate party leadership.

He described these actions as “disrespectful and destructive” to party cohesion.

The group also dismissed a planned “coalition transition” by the El-Rufai camp, declaring it illegitimate for excluding recognized ADC officials.

They issued a stark warning, stating that these moves risk fracturing the party and leading to a “disastrous” outcome in the 2027 elections.
