Jolly Nyame, ex-Taraba gov: My Kuje Prison experience shaped me into better leader
Former Taraba State Governor, Rev. Jolly Tavoro Nyame, said his prison experience at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abujs reshaped his worldwide as a leader.
Nyame spoke after his release at a thanksgiving service at the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Secretariat in Jalingo, Taraba State capital.
The former governor, who said he would be a better and reformed leader, promised that if he is given a second chance to lead, he would conduct the affairs of the state better.
According to him, “I learned a lot while in Kuje Prison and in the hospital. If given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State, I will do better because of the experience I have gained.”
He also stressed on the importance of faith and resilience, which kept his sanity in prison, advising leaders to be strong in the face of challenges.
Nyame, who was in prison for only four years of a 14-year sentence, said his imprisonment was politically motivated.
He called on Nigerians to be prudent in their expenses, urging the government to prioritize policies that enhance citizens’ lives.
