In Ekiti, Nigeria’s First Lady reassures insecurity challenges will be surmounted
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reassured Nigerians that the challenge of insecurity in Nigeria would be surmounted, especially with the efforts by the Federal Government and its various security agencies and collaboration of other nations.
The First Lady stated this on Saturday during her first official visit to Ekiti State during a meeting with the Ekiti State Traditional Ruler’s Council at the Government House, Ado Ekiti.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to ensure that issues of insecurity is curbed.
Senator Tinubu, who admitted that said the insecurity is highly disheartening, explained that most of the people causing this unrest are non-Nigerians.
“I can assure you, America, for instance, are helping, France too are helping and some other developed countries, we shall surmount insecurity,” she said.
According to her, ”Nigeria is a blessed country, you can see the beauty from Ekiti, Nigeria is too great to be intimidated,” she stated.
She insisted that the challenges facing the country presently would end soon, charging the women to continue to pray for the country, adding that she believes that God is faithful with Nigerians. The First Lady gave Business Recapitalisation Grant of N100 million to 2,000 women petty traders in the state at N50,000 each.
The grant, according to the Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is to assist and encourage the women and support their families and for their economic growth.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was accompanied by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, the APC National Women Leader Dr Mary Alile Idele, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also rallied support from the women in the State for a second term for Governor Abiodun Oyebanji.
The wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, and other states governors wives with other political leaders, also charged the people to support the incumbent governor in the upcoming election in June as well as President Tinubu for continuity come 2027.
Indeed, the First Lady had made other donations to the state under the RHI, including 10,000 copies of exercise books to public schools in the sate in June, 2024,
Also, RHI in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education gave 5,100 bursaries in 2024, with Ekiti State receiving 100 out of 1,500 scholarships in 2025, 40 slots for students in 200 Level up to doctorate level.
Similarly, the Environment Club/Society was launched in Ekiti State in November, 2025, and under the RHI Flow with Confidence, 10,000 packs of one year supply of sanitary pads to school girls in Ekiti State.
The First Lady also announced cash rewards of N200 million for two best graduating students ( a male and a female) from Ekiti State University after her commissioning the TETFUND Sponsored ICT Experience Centre during her visit to the State.
Also, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, under the RHI, Ekiti State students benefitted from annual scholarships of ₦1 million and laptop for 3-years for each student from the 36 states of the federation, including the FCT and DEPOWA.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti Traditional Rulers’ Council, Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, had commended President Tinubu for his various initiatives to make life easy for Nigerians.
He expressed his deep belief in the leadership of President Tinubu, recalling how the President transformed Lagos State while he was the governor.
The Royal Father called on the President to ensure that insecurity is addressed, saying the way people are being kidnapped in the state is worrisome.
