The Nigerian Police have declared notorious Lagos land grabber, Ibro and members of his gang wanted over illegal takeover of 8223 square meters of land, belonging to First bank at Chevron Estate in Lekki,  Eti Osa area of Lagos State.

Ibro and his gang allegedly forcefully took over the land from the first generation bank, which has been in possession of the property for 16 years, having purchased from the aboriginal owners, the Ojumu family of Lagos.

Lagos State government over the years has proscribed activities of land grabbers across the state, with the State governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, having to intervene to safe members of the public from intimidation of land grabbers.

There is also a Committee set up by the state to check activities of land grabbers.

When the case was reported, the Lagos State Police Command, under Police Commissioner,  Mr Abiodun Alabi, directed the Lagos State Task Force Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, to stop the unauthorized sales by  the land grabber to unsuspecting members of the public.

Rather than obeying the law, Ibro and his gang allegedly declared war against the police, defaming the Police Commissioner, and the Task Force commander.

According to police investigation sources, First bank reportedly acquired the said land, about sixteen years ago from the original owner, the Ojomu Family of Eti Osa.

The source revealed that, “First bank bought the land from the family that owned it, and formalized the ownership title to the land by acquiring all lawful land document title from Lagos State Government.

“The bank had no immediate need to construct any structure on the land .They left it to appreciate, only for a land grabber to jump into the land and began to sell it to unsuspecting members of the public.”

”Only the bank has provided valid title documents to back their ownership claim of the disputed land. Ibro has been running from one place to another in his bid to cover up the shady deals .

“He has resorted to media blackmail and campaign of calumny against the police now. He has been sponsoring media blackmail against Lagos CP and the chairman of the task Force, CSP Jejeloye now. ”

Police sources insisted that, “We are not in anyway deterred by Ibro’ s antics. We will not allow a criminal element like him to subvert justice through the abuse of the media .The media should be very careful of him ”
